Gearing
Don't want to be stuck between gears or on the rev-limiter a bunch so choosing the best gearing / power / weight is critical.

For the 6 Speed equipped RSX-S:
The 2002-04 final drive is 4.39, 65 mph second gear with the 25" tall 225/45-17 tire @8300 rpm (400 over stock).
2005-2006 FD is 4.76, 61 mph in second @8300 rpm (200 over stock).

The Base 5 speed RSX also uses the 4.39 FD (with taller transmission gearing), 160hp at a lower more useable rpm than the S, and similar torque to the S also at a lower rpm. Buy in for the Base should be less too. All USDM cars are equipped with moonroof / sunroof.
My poor math says a 23" tall tire on the Base will reach 61mph @ 7200 rpm; stock redline is 6800.

FWD
Yes, front wheel drive.
SCCA has created several Street Touring autocross classes for various platforms / drive configurations. Similar rules package to my previous experience and builds in STS and STR Miatas, STF creates a whole new challenge.
Power makes up for a lot of other issues and the 210 horsepower Acura RSX Type-S or the 160 hp Base RSX could potentially upset the STF class, but there are several other potential obstacles to overcome.
- - Open differential - -
- - Front drive - -
- - 225mm width tires - -
- - Suspension tuning - -
- - Weight - -
Do I really want to autocross a front wheel drive car? Is the STF class stable or growing? Will I have fun? How much will it cost?
My main reason for considering this specific car and class is because nobody else is doing it and others have said it can't be done. I enjoy the build process and tuning challenges associated with the ST* classes and this is just another one of my crazy ideas.
Lets see how far I make it.
